Through My Looking Glass

I got my first kimono jacket! Love the fact that its reversible. Wore it for dinner to OChre with a tank top, leggings and JC Foxy. With my neck being pretty bare with the ensemble, I decided to grab one of my newer necklaces - a simple Pegasus pendant and chain.

I got this kimono jacket just before the Next Face Of Asia Event last Friday. From the Fashion Against Aids line at H&M, 25% of purchase price of the collection goes towards HIV/AIDS education and prevention projects. The line consists of a ton of brightly colored pieces with a rather ethnic edge - love it! I got a look at the whole collection some time back from my H&M Iphone app and was hoping that the whole collection would be available. Grabbed 3 pieces - the reversible kimono jacket, the arm cuff and the Japanese Geisha motif singlet which I might wear out to Sentosa later on in the day. Only bummer was that the bustier top pretty much sold out by the time I headed down. Almost got the bikini set but with my overflowing wardrobe and lack of beach time, I decided to control.

Time to get some shut eye before the early 8am wake up call… Nites!

If you haven’t heard the fairytale story of Snow White… well, I feel sorry for you during your childhood years.

But fret not, even though the storyline of Mirror Mirror did not follow the same sequence of events of the Grimm’s tale it brought a refreshing bite leaving audiences chuckling in their seats. As a child, I vividly remember Disney’s version of the wicked Queen leaving me freaked out every time I watched but fast forward to 2012 and Julia Roberts in place of that vile caricature packs a punch of sarcastic humor and wit. Lily Collin’s version of Snow White while still possessing that sweet somewhat naive persona doesn’t disappoint today’s female audience to with her strength and heroism instead of playing the damsel-in-distress role. Elaborate costumes, comedy, fantasy, Julia Roberts, a prince, seven dwarfs and Lily Collin’s distractingly bushy eyebrows… what more can you ask in a fairytale film??

For a change of events, Mirror Mirror was a relaxing alternative to my Thursday night.

I’m on the lookout for a Kimono Jacket despite the fact that in the back of my head, I think I have 2 solid colored chiffon pieces somewhere in the depths of my overflowing wardrobe. I have a bit of an addiction to outerwear as well besides shoes - blazers, vests, cardigans, pleather jackets. I only recently returned from Shanghai with a winter coat and a slouch knit cardi and don’t ask me where I’m gonna wear them to. So back to my hunt… I mean c’mon its the piece tt oozes out boho meets hippie meets gypsy meets rocker back in the day. Its an easy put over basics type of accessory. It would go so well with a tank top, shorts and gladiator sandals - my type of Saturday attire. Now just to find the perfect piece…

Since getting my Iphone I’ve been pretty hooked. There is a constant supply of apps to keep me curiously downloading. Within the last half hour I’ve downloaded a couple that are pretty good I had to patiently wait for my old laptop to boot up just to blog about. 

First up, in the games section my latest download is Cell Splat. It’s a keep me awake kinda game which is pretty simple yet all about reflex and attention. The name of the game tap the matching cells of the target cell at the top of the screen. Its the kinda game that will have you hooked and borderline annoyed at times.

In the photography section, PowerCam is a powerful and creative camera app with tons of filters from TiltShift action to interesting effects like Vintage, Retro, Color Explosion, Neon, Starlight and a whole lot more. The thing I love about this app is the fact that you can choose your filters and view it while you snap.

And lastly for this post, Flava a journal/notebook app that is one of the more user-friendly ones I’ve come across thus far. It pretty much saves anything - short memos, photos, places, music, books, url and even voice recordings. I’m still getting familiar with this app since I just downloaded it but it’s been easy peasy thus far putting in my 1st post of a recipe I’m gonna try soon - Madeleines.
